My 21st Century Tools!

Author: logan | Filed under: Just for fun

TechnologyMy class and I have been using tools online to help us work over the year. Here is a list of the tools I remember.

I would need these tools next year because they will help me learn.

The ones I need most are Diigo, Glogster, Webmail, YouTube, Wordle and Flickr.  What tools have you experimented with? Do you mind telling me what they are?

Earth Day!

Author: logan | Filed under: event

Earth dayEarth Day was April 22, 2010. For Earth Day we went paperless. We used dry erase markers on our desks instead of using paper. It was so fun. We do it almost every day now but mostly for math. The teacher used the Smartboard to teach us math. It was so cool. I might be using a Smartboard next year because I will be going to high school this year!! But, I will miss my teacher Mrs.Braidwood. She is the best teacher ever! I wish she was my teacher next year too.

Kool Activities For Earth Hour!

Author: logan | Filed under: Uncategorized

starsEarth Hour  was Saturday, March 27th from 8:30 to 9:30 pm. Earth Hour is One hour of the year that we have to turn all our electrical  appliances and lights off to save energy to help stop global warming. The first earth hour started in Sydney, Australia in 2007. You can do many activities. The activity that I thought about was pretend camping. You can tell scary stories, roast marshmallows on a barbecue, build a tent and sleep in sleeping bags. if you have any ideas of activities leave a comment and I will answer back as soon as I can. For Earth Hour I did not do anything because I was asleep. Next year for earth hour I will turn off the lights and read around a candle. Next year I hope more people will participate in earth hour.

The Vancouver Aquarium!

Author: logan | Filed under: Vancouver Aquarium

jelly fishMrs.Braidwood’s class and Mrs. Anderson’s class went to the Vancouver Aquarium on Tuesday June 1st. We drove to Nanaimo, rode on a ferry, got on a city bus to Stanley Park and walked to the Aquarium. I saw sea otters, belugas, dolphins, jelly fish and many more animals. The amazon exhibit is really warm. In the Aquarium I saw lots of frogs and there are many species that are endangered. I also saw cockroaches and my favorite one is the giant cockroach. My favorite animal was the caiman. They are so cool. At first I thought that it was a crocodile but I was told it was a caiman. They are cousins to crocodiles and alligators. There were fish in the water under the caiman and I was so amazed that they did not attack the fish. I was later told that the Aquarium people fed them themselves. We spent the night sleeping in front of the beluga tank. I thought it was cool. We did not get much sleep because we were watching the belugas all night. My favorite beluga blew bubble rings. It was awesome. I got to get a souvenir for going there. In the end we took a ferry back to Nanaimo and drove back to school.

My Three Lego Robots

Author: logan | Filed under: Uncategorized

googleI built three Lego robots in one day. One of them was with instructions, one was with a picture on paper and one was with a thought I had. The first was X Pod 1 which was the one I made with instructions. It had a blaster on one arm and a hand on the other. The arms had joints on them and the legs did too. The head could turn around and look at other Lego people.

The second was X Pod 2 the one I made with the picture. It has mostly the same features as x pod 1, but it is smaller and more agile then X Pod 1. It had joints on its arms and legs but the legs bend more. The head can look up and forward but not down, left or right. There is also an antenna on its back.

Which brings us to the last one that I like to call Automatic Robot Punisherof Intelligence or A.R.P.I for short. It has a sword on one arm and a blaster on the other. In total it has 11 blasters. A.R.P.I has shoulder pads and knee pads. There are also spears and a cockpit.

I am planning on making more robots. Have you ever built something with lego?

Creative Commons Licence!

Author: logan | Filed under: Uncategorized

Everyone can see our blogs. Most people just look at the blogs or comment on posts but others might take the words that you write without giving you credit for writing  it. Challenge 5 is about helping others learn that Creative Commons licences let people know that you don’t mind them using your work, but they must credit you. This helps prevent people from taking your words or pictures without permission. I made my licence on a website that Mrs. Braidwood calls the Creative Commons site. You are free to share and remix my work. The following conditions are  Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike.

The Mad Sea!

stormThe Mad Sea

They’re ready for battle

The wind howls like hungry wolves

The waves march onto the beach

Like soldiers going to battle

The wind summons the lightning and thunder

Like a soldier fires a gun

The waves continue to stomp the shore

Like the boots of a soldier

When the storm ends

All is calm

The wind and waves die down

Like when a battle ends

All is silent.

Maori Mihi!

Author: logan | Filed under: Culture

My class has been talking to a class in New Zealand on a progam called Skype. They have been teaching people how to say some words in Maori. We made Maori mihis. A mihi is a way to introduce yourself. We made the recordings on a program called Vocaroo. Here is my recording.
